How often does my chimney need to be cleaned?
Our standard is that a chimney should be cleaned after using one cord of wood. According to the National Fire Protection Association Standard 211, “Chimneys, fireplaces and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance and repairs shall be done if necessary.”
Will there be a mess?
Our work is thorough and, after we’re finished, you’ll never know we were even there.
How do I know if I need my chimney cleaned?
If you see a build-up of creosote in your chimney flue (about 1/8 inch), then your chimney may need to be cleaned. However, only a professional will be able to determine if it actually needs to be cleaned.
Why does my fireplace smell?
A smelly fireplace is often a sign that it needs to be cleaned or just needs a rain cap. The high humidity and down draft during the summer often causes these problems.
How long do cleanings take?
About 45 minutes.
